Manila, Philippines –
President Rodrigo Duterte has just signed the joint resolution authorizing
increase in military’s base pay and other uniformed personnel in the
government.
On Tuesday, the Palace released the Congress’ Joint Resolution
No. 1 covering all military and uniformed personnel under the Department of
Defense (DND), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Also includes the Philippine Coast Guard, and National Mapping
and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA).
According to joint resolution signed by President Duterte on
January 1, the uniformed personnel need the compensation package.
The said pay hike will commensurate their critical role in
keeping the country safe and the citizens protected.
The joint resolution also provides that modification of the
base pay for the MUP “shall be aligned with the objective of maintaining fiscal
integrity and pursuing pension reform.”
The House of Representative passed the Resolution to the
Senate on December 11, and 13, 2017.
