Manila, Philippines – Opposition lawmakers like Senator Bam Aquino
slammed President Rodrigo Duterte for admitting that he was indeed a “dictator”.
Aquino said that the Philippines does not need a strong man
as he would likely bring violence and killings, lack of jobs, freedom suppression,
more corruption in the government, as well as huge additional debt.
“A dictator is not what we need. Rather, we need a leader
who has the capacity to govern and shows genuine concern for the nation,
especially its poor,” Aquino said in Filipino.
He also reminded the chief executive that Filipinos fought the
former dictator Ferdinand Marcos because they know that dictatorship would only
bring the country down.
Meanwhile, Representative Tom Villarin of Akbayan said that president
Duterte’s admission confirmed what he had been doing all this time, being a
dictator himself.
Villarin cited the alleged extra judicial killings on president’s
war on drugs, the declaration of martial law in Mindanao region, his contempt
for the rule of law, the harassments of some constitutional officers, crackdown
on legitimate dissent, and also the president’s strong choice of words when he
speaks – these according to Villarin are all “hallmarks of a dictator.”
“Dictators bring down a country, bring pain and untold
sufferings to people and the children who will have a traumatized future,” he
said.
Also, Rep. Antonio Tinio of ACT Teachers party list, the
admission of the president showed his disrespect for human rights and due process,
his dislike for competitive bidding in infrastructure projects, also his attacks
to the mainstream media.
“There you have it, straight from the horse’s mouth. Pres.
Duterte is a self-confessed dictator,” he said.
President Duterte recently said in his speech addressing the
200 former New People’s Army who returned to the government that, ” Yes, it
is true. I am a dictator. I have to be a dictator for the good of the country.”

ReplyDeleteWe need a leader who has the capacity to govern and shows genuine concern for the nation, especially its poor,. Since the second term of Marcos to Pnoy, our country has been sliding down its economy. .. making us one of the poorest country in Asia. Lately, oligarchs have been identified as tax evaders, corrupt, and druglords. See PAL management, Mighty cigarettes, and Parojinog and Espinosa. Nobody among the leaders able to enforce against these people until now. See Manila Bay and Boracay. None of these sweet talking candidates able to enforce the laws because they are afraid. Goodbye sweet talking politician!

ReplyDeletesix years of sufferings from corruption, hypocricy and poverty caused by mismanagement and unproductive leader like abnoy is enough to end an impotent government. Now that the true leader is here to render everything for the sake of the Filipino people, here comes another abnoy to lecture the ever productive president of the Republic of the Philippines. May you rest in peace, and we will not allow another abnoy like bam aquino to depress the people in this country because we are smart enough to choose the better leader in the near future.
ReplyDelete^The group of oppositionists against Duterte have the right to say what they think the truth or lies about him ! But the truth will always remain that Duterte was elected by the people and trusted him ,Dictator or not who cares ? The OPPOSITIONISTS are just like loud barking dogs without teeth !
ReplyDeletePRRD lowered crime rate, no freedom suppression as evidenced by detractors' continued existence like Maria Ressa and you Yellows, and fights for corruption in the government. He is not a dictator as what your said and the Filipino people need him. He is a leader who has the capacity to govern and shows genuine concern for the nation, especially its poor. O ayan, kabaligtaran sa sinabi mo.
ReplyDeleteWell, the 3 percent is making noise! Like You and Jejomar Sison are the ones who would bribg the country down just like what happened in Marcos time! We were better off that time until J. Sison's selfsih ambition killed the future, of the Philippines! Get out of the country, Bam! Isa kang salot!
ReplyDeleteThe real worthless is Bambina Aquino himself, kaya na-flush sa inidoro.
