UST alumnus and social media influencer Mark Lopez recently took to Facebook to give his point of view as to why human rights lawyer Chel Diokno of Otso Diretso failed to secure a seat in the latest midterm senatorial polls.
Election results show that Diokno was placed on the 21st spot with 6,175,743 votes as of 6:20 p.m. Tuesday.
In his Facebook post, Lopez said Diokno’s answer during ABS-CBN’s senatorial debate, which aired Sunday (February 17) brought him down, causing him to lose more votes.
“Hindi nyo ba ma realize na ung “No Smoking” reply nya is one of your watershed, defining moment nung campaign?” Lopez wrote
When asked what are the good decisions made by President Rodrigo Duterte in his close to three years in office, Diokno considers the nationwide smoking ban as the only good one, “yung no smoking”, he said.
Lopez saw Diokno’s answer as “very condescending and insulting”.
“Hindi nyo ba alam na yun tindig, karakas at pagka ungas na porma ni Diokno habang binigkas ung “No Smoking” answer sa tanong na “May maganda bang nagawa ang Duterte Administration” eh parang binuhay nyo sa ala ala ng taumbayan ang pagka kupal at apathetic ni Noynoy Aquino at Mar Roxas?” Lopez said
