Alejano joins impromptu Otso Diretso reunion with Vice President Leni Robredo
last June 10. Half of the opposition party, graced the small gathering.
After the midterm elections, the Vice President recently
hosted a gathering of Otso Diretso candidates and their families at her office
in Quezon City.
Magdalo Party-list Rep. Gary Alejano joined his comrades
from the Otso Diretso lineup, which was one of their few reunions after their
failed May 13 runs.
Half of the squad made it. Among those present were lawyer
Chel Diokno, Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano, Marawi civic leader Samira Gutoc,
former Quezon Rep. Erin Tañada, and former Solicitor General Florin Hilbay.
Campaign manager Sen. Kiko Pangilinan also joined them, with
all smiles now weeks after he tried to resign from his post, as well as Senator
Antonio Trillanes IV also graced the affair.
Alejano sat with fellow defeated senatorial bets Erin
Tañada, Samira Gutoc, and Chel Diokno for what they call a “fellowship” session
at Vice President Leni Robredo’s official residence.
“Parang reunion,”
Pangilinan captioned a photo of the group with VP Robredo posted it on Twitter.
Alejano, who brought along his family, described the event
as “fellowship.”
None of the eight Otso Diretso candidates won in the last Mid-term
elections. Pangilinan offered to resign as Liberal Party president after the
defeat of the team but Robredo turned down his resignation.
