Just a couple of hours after his outburst on Twitter, Foreign
Affairs Secretary Teddyboy Locsin has apologized to Vice President Leni Robredo
over his “boba” comment.
After a netizen asked him to go easy on Robredo, Locsin
tweeted; “Yes. That’s no way for a gentleman to speak to a lady. Apologies,”
“She is our Vice President. I have apologized,” Locsin also
said
Locsin admitted that it was not right to call the second highest
official of the country ‘stupid.
“She is the only successor to the President. Elections alone
determine who takes what post; not public sentiment. Besides she really won the
election. 200,000 is huge,” the DFA
chief said
Robredo’s camp earlier reacted to Locsin’s series of tweets
calling her ‘boba’ or idiot over the cancellation of diplomatic passports.
On a tweet, Barry Gutierrez, Robredo's spokesperson hit back
at the Foreign Affairs secretary.
“Cancelling ‘courtesy’ diplomatic passports after China
refused to honor Sec ADR’s is not promoting professionalism but justifying
cowardice. Besides, if @teddyboylocsin really wanted to limit these passports
to “real, working diplomats” he should start by cancelling his own,”
Gutierrez said in a tweet
