For Kris Aquino, if Senator Imee Marcos’ wearing a yellow
dress during the fourth State of the Nation Address (Sona) of President
Rodrigo Duterte means she’s acknowledging the “past sins”, then she might
willing to meet halfway with the Marcoses.
In an Instagram comment on Tuesday, a netizen asked Kris
about her thoughts on Imee’s choice of color during Sona.
“Nagdilaw po si Sen. Imelda sa SONA yesterday. Ano pong
masasabi niyo tungkol don? Kasi yellow symbolizes the Liberal Party [LP] which
is their rival?” says one of the netizens.
“1st, yellow isn’t LP. Yellow comes from TIE A YELLOW RIBBON
(the song) for my Dad,” the actress said
“If it’s a sincere gesture to reach out, acknowledge past
sins and show remorse— I shall meet them halfway. We can move forward but we
can do that only by acknowledging the past.” She continued
“Sen. Imee has never heard from me about my childhood &
I have never heard about her history as well. We should be open to a
conversation to understand our lives. Fair enough?” Kris further said.
Meanwhile, when asked for the meaning of her gesture to wear
yellow during Sona, Imee said; “Move forward, magkaisa ulit,”
The yellow and red gown worn by Imee was reportedly designed
by Mark Tumang.
