In two weeks time, newly-elect Mayor Francisco Isko Moreno
Domagoso has reportedly been receiving death threats after his efforts to make
Manila a better place for its people.
A close associate of Mayor Isko, third district Councilor
Manuel “Letlet” Zarcal revealed the threats, which they received from different
sources.
“The mayor simply brushed aside the threat when the
information was given to him, saying it comes with the territory,” Zarcal said.
“Sabi ni mayor, hazards of the job daw ‘yun and only meant
to derail his efforts to rid the city of illegal vendors and syndicated,
‘organized’ vending schemes,” he added.
The Councilor cited that these threats may have come from
those who have lost a lot when Mayor Isko started the cleansing of Manila.
Zarcal, however, did
not provide further details of the said threats.
Earlier, Mayor Isko disclosed that he was even offered P5
million per day just to stop his order against illegal vendors.
“May mga nagparating lang sa akin na mensahe na P5 million a
day, P150 million a month, P1.8 billion a year,” Moreno told reporters in a
press conference.
When asked what the bribe was for, he said, “Para dating gawi. Same-same.”
“Simple lang ang sinabi ko. 'Subukan niyo.' Oh, hindi na
tumawag,” he also said
The fierce mayor of Manila has expressed determination to
continue clearing Divisoria, Recto, Ylaya , Juan Luna , Soler, Carmen Planas
,Tabora, Asuncion, Villalobos, Carriedo,C. Palanca , Ronquillo, Raon and
Evangelista, among others, to remove obstructions, giving it to the motorists
