Manila, Philippines –Mayor
Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso gave a courtesy call on Friday to the US
Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim as the newly elected Mayor of Manila.
Ambassador Kim called Mayor Isko
a “total rock star,” for the way he handles the different problems of the City.
Kim also praises Isko for his
leadership style that brings “new dynamism and energy” being a Mayor of the country’s capital.
During
the visit, Mayor Isko discussed to the US Ambassador his policies and plans for
Manila, his priorities, the core values and principles that influence his decisions
and his leadership style and other matters.
Both officials were accompanied by their trusted people, Mayor Isko's Chief of staff Cesar
Chavez and US Internal Political Chief of
the Embassy Josh Morris.
They also discussed the
recent UN approval to adopt the resolution seeking the administration a
comprehensive review of the anti-drug campaign of the administration.
The Ambassador also lauded Domagoso’s
public statements in line with the anti-drug campaign of the administration.
"We appreciate your approach," US ambassador Sung Kim said during the meeting.
"You're dealing with it in a manner that is consistent
with human rights and rule of law." Kim added.
Domagoso made it clear that he is
in favor of the Presidents Duterte’s anti-drug campaign. "I made a commitment during the campaign that human rights must be
respected. But our law enforcers also have human rights," the good
Mayor added.
The newly elected Mayor is doing
a very excellent performance in solving the city’s many problems upon assuming his
office in a span of two weeks.
He is gaining so much popularity in
the social media, different public sectors, and even his fellow government
officials.
