Opposition Senator Francis Pangilinan is pushing for the
passage of a bill that will grant a salary hike for public school teachers.
In a Facebook post, Pangilinan said, “if the government had
travel funds for its loyalists, it should be able to bankroll the proposed
salary hike for teachers.”
The Liberal Party President announced after Malacañang defended the number
of celebrities present in President Duterte’s official visit to Russia.
These celebrities, including actors Cesar Montano and Philip
Salvador, reportedly paid for their own travel expenses and not at the expense
of the government.
“Sa mga kamay nila
natin ipinagkatiwala ang kinabukasan ng kabataang Pilipino. Dapat kilalanin ang
kanilang kontribusyon sa lipunan at bigyan sila ng sapat na sahod at
insentibo,” Pangilinan posted on his Facebook.
“Kung may pera para sa
mga pulis at militar, dapat may pera para sa mga titser. Kung may pera para sa
junket ng mga ‘rabid’ fans ng Pangulo, dapat may pera para sa mga titser.

Act of 2019 an act providing for additional support and compensation for
educators in basic education proposes a 10,000 additional bonus for teachers
in three tranches.
The bill seeks the grant of P4,000 per month for the first
year, P3,000 for the second year, and a final
increment of P3,000 for the third year.
Senators on Friday promised to prioritize the salary
increase and additional grants to public school teachers in recognition of the
critical role they play in the lives of the children and in nation-building.
