Former senatorial candidate Florin Hilbay has nothing but
praises for Vice President Leni Robredo, who recently took the challenge of
President Rodrigo Duterte to become a co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee on
Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD).
“In just a few days, VP Leni has
practically assumed control over the direction of the war on drugs. She’s doing
it in an inclusive” Hilbay said
“Walang yabang at walang inaaway. Walang mga pasabog at
propaganda. Kalmado. Pilipinas, ito ang tunay na lider,” the former Solicitor General
added
President Duterte offered the position to Robredo last week
after he was irked by the latter’s claim that his controversial crackdown on
narcotics is not working.
Meanwhile, according to earlier reports, the Vice President would
like to bring justice to those who died in the government’s campaign against
illegal drugs.
Aside from that, Robredo will also push for transparency as
anti-drug co-chairperson.
Barry Gutierrez, Robredo’s legal adviser, said the vice
president wanted to bring justice to those “unjustly killed” as she takes on
her new.
“So that means those police officers currently being
investigated, those police officers who have actually been charged in
connection with unlawful deaths in the conduct of drug war. Well, these cases
should be fast tracked and it should be ensured that they be held accountable,”
Gutierrez told ABS-CBN News Channel Friday.
“The vice president has always been strong proponent of
transparency in governance,” he said.
